Marisa Anderson’s New Album is Awesome and You Should Listen to It

Hey friends! I wanted to share with you a new album that came out by one of my favorite musicians, Marisa Anderson. It’s called Still, Here and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been a fan of Marisa’s for a while now, and I was so excited when I heard she was coming out with a new album. I’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since it came out, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you all!

In Dark Water

The first track on the album is called In Dark Water, and it’s a really beautiful and haunting song. The piano accompaniment sets the stage for the rest of the album perfectly. Marisa’s use of space in her music is really impeccable, and this song ebbs and flows in a way that feels both organic and natural.

The First This Time

This song was written during the riots after George Floyd’s death. It starts off with these really ominous repeated guitar notes, and then the slide guitar comes in and punctuates them in this really powerful way. The song is really beautiful and at times discordant and jarring, but always in a purposeful way.

The Low Country

This slow song is such a pretty and wistful sounding song. The slide guitar lends a touch of Americana to it, while the acoustic guitar gives it this really ethereal quality. It’s just a really lovely track overall, and it’s one of my favorites on the album.

Night Air

This is a really fun upbeat song, and I really enjoy the guitar work on this.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for some new music to listen to, I would highly recommend checking out Marisa Anderson’s new album Still, Here. It’s an absolutely gorgeous album that is perfect for Autumn listening. Whether you’re long time fan of Marisa’s like me, or you’re hearing her music for the first time, I think you’ll find something to love on this album. So go check it out!
